Eduardo Sepulveda was overwhelmed by emotion when he start his firsted Tour de France in the time trial in Utrecht. He described the day on his facbook page. "Lots of emotion and my average performance reminds me to reality. I have to concentrate on the race and ignore the rest," he wrote.
Sepulveda will try to ignore the magnitude of his first Tour de France to get to Paris "with the best GC result possible." Before and after the stage, he showed exemplary professionalism. He wanted to follow Pierre-Luc Périchon, first Bretagne rider in action, in the car to lcheck the course at race speed, amid howls of impressive Dutch fans. Sepulveda lost a little less than a minute compared to the top GC riders.
After the finish, he was very dissatisfied with his performance (157th at 1'40 "), it is mounted on rollers for sitting back quietly.
"It's not great but almost normal. I devoted myself to the mountains this year, and mainly in recent weeks with a very hard training camp in Andorra. I lost the power it takes to push the big gear at of more than 50kph."
