Chris Horner's Giro d'Italia campaign may be over before it had even begun. After struggling with injuries all year, he has crashed hard during training and has sustained four broken ribs and a punctured lung.
Vuelta winner Chris Horner had an unfortunated accident while out training around Lake Como. The details of the accident are still to be evaluated, however it seems that in the afteroon he was probably hit by a car while riding on the Lecco side of the Lake.
He was immediately transported to Lecco hospital where the team's medical doctor Luca Pollastri met him to evaluate the circumstances with the hospital's doctors. The medical checks show no head concussion but a punctured lung, four broken ribs and cuts in his head which required stitches.
The medical staff of LAMPRE-MERIDA are in close contact with the doctors of the hospital and will be informed of any further progress.
