Sebastian Langeveld crashed heavily at E3 Harlebeke today and was transported via ambulance to a local hospital. His known injuries include contusions and abrasions to his right elbow and shoulder and a severe contusion to his right knee. Langeveld will continue to be monitored by team medical staff tonight for additional injuries and he will undergo further imaging tomorrow.
"After losing our leader, Sebastian, to a crash, the race went on to Plan B: Jack[Bauer], Dylan [van Baarle] and Kristjian [Koren] in the final. Because of the excellent help from Lasse [Norman], Kristoffer [Skjerping], Alan [Marangoni] and Ted [King], our protected riders were able to save a lot of energy for the last part of the race. In the final, a perfect lead out from Dylan helped Jack to sprint to eighth place. It was a very good team effort. The sprint was a good one considering the riders they were sprinting against. Now we look ahead to Sunday," Cannondale sports director Andrea Klier said.
