In his first season as a professional, Patrick Konrad (Bora-Argon 18) showed that he can mix it up with the world elite in th stage races. Especially outside of Europe, the Austrian achieved some excellent results like at February's Tour of Oman (2.HC) where he was in tenth overall, and October's Abu Dhabi Tour (2.1).
But also in the races on the European racing calendar, Konrad showed himself with 13th at the Critérium International in Corsica, ninth in the Tour de l`Ain (2.1) and especially fifth in the Tour of Denmark (2.HC).
"I am very satisfied with the season," the 24-year-old told radsport-news.com. "I wanted to show immediately in my first year as a pro that I deserve my place in the team." Konrad was mainly proud of his consistency: "I could deliver good performances throughout the entire season which is certainly one of my strengths."
In addition to top results, Konrad will also remember his first WorldTour races. "To be at the start with the very best in the world was a highlight," he said about the cycling monuments Liège-Bastogne-Liège and the Tour of Lombardy.
In his second season at Bora-Argon 18, the climber wants to shine with top results in the stage races. He also hopes for a debut at one of the three big tours. "To ride a Grand Tour is of course my dream," Konrad said.
