"The chaos began a few kilometers from the finish. There was a crash and Bakha [Kozhatayev] brought me up as much as he could before I could go on to do the sprint."
Those were the words of Astana's Ruslan Tleubayev after stage two at the Tour of Hainan. Tleubayev finished the second stage of Hainan island's tropical race on the podium, taking third in a mass sprint on a technically dificult finish. Stage winner Andrea Palini of Italy again won the day.
In recognition of his finish, Tleubayev now wears the "Best Asian Rider" jersey at the 2015 Tour of Hainan.
Approximately 3km from the finish, Arman Kamyshev and Valerio Agnoli went down in a large crash, while Dmitriy Gruzdev managed to avoid the accident but was then blocked behind the pile of riders. Kamyshev suffered scrapes and bruises but no serious injiury and both will line up to start three at the Tour of Hainan.
