Astana has announced that they have signed a contract with Miguel Angel Lopez who won the Tour de l'Avenir a few weeks ago. The Kazakh team hopes that the Colombian will be able to play a support role for Fabio Aru in his first year's on the professional scene.
Astana Pro Team is pleased to sign a two-year contract with Miguel Ángel López. Lopez, from Colombia, won the 2014 Tour de l’Avenir, taking the overall Mountains Classification and a victory in stage four on Plateau de Solaison in France.
“We hope that he can grow with us in a two-year contract, and that he can be an effective rider in the mountains and at first help Fabio Aru," Astana Pro Team General Manager Alexandr Vinokurov said.
Astana has already announced the signinings of Lars Boom, Davide Malacarne, Diego Rosa, Laurens De Vreese, Luis Leon Sanchez and Rein Taaramae.
