Having missed the Tour of Beijing due to the recent doping cases, Astana are back in action at the Tour of Hainan. With Arman Kamyshev finishing 9th, they had a quiet start and are now focused on the summit finish on stage 7.
“It’s good weather in Hainan, and our main goal for the General Classification will be stage seven," Andrey Zeits said after stage one at the Tour of Hainan.
Zeits and the entire Astana Pro Team squad finished with the same time at stage winner Moreno Hofland of the Netherlands. Monday’s opening stage for the 8-day 2014 Tour of Hainan was a short circuit race in the northern city of Chengmai, a change from previous starts in Sanya on the southern coast of the tropical island.
