The Kazakh Astana team has reached an agreement with the organzers of the Clasica Almeria to participate in the next edition to be held on February 14.
The squad led by Alexandre Vinokourov and Giuseppe Martinelli has decided to take part in the race as they have done in recent years.
Its most important results this past season are the win in the Vuelta a Espana, second and third places in the Giro d'Italia as well as victories in Tre Valli Varesine and one of the five monuments, Il Lombardia. They also won numerous stages in the three grand tours.
With this agreement, Astana becomes the first team to announce their participation in the 2016 Clasica Almeria. The 2015 edition was won by Mark Cavendish while Astana's Valerio Agnoli finished fourth.
