Fabio Aru is expected to play a big role in the Vuelta a España this year. After his excellent Giro d'Italia, the young rider from Astana, has experienced a long period of detachment from racing before resuming the feeling with the bike in the Tour of Poland, after a period of training between Kazakhstan and Sestriere.
In an exclusive interview this morning with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Sardinian climber states that he has good feelings, a feeling more or less the same feeling of the Corsa Rosa, where he was eventually third overall and won a stage: "I can say that I know I have done everything right. Both workouts, is the life of a cyclist. My weight is 60.2 pounds. I was 60.5 at the Giro.” said Aru “I've never tried a second peak of form in the season, so I do not know how my body will react. Yet I feel very well."
The goal, including a stage win and a good overall finish is certainly not unachievable for Aru. He launched into a prediction on his opponents in the Spanish race: "For Purito, this is a chance of redemption. Froome also wants revenge. But my favourite is Quintana, who already in Burgos showed himself to be very good. Contador? They say he is a little further back, but he's a champion."
