Igor Anton (1983) wants to remain active and is looking for an elite team as he has been left off the Movistar roster for 2016 after two years in the team.

The Spaniard confirmed the situation in "Onda Deportiva" on the Radio Onda Cero

"I will not continue with Movistar Team, but I prefer to focus on the beauty of these two years, with the personal victory in Asturias and other races where I have been with teammates and even friends in the team. I hope to soon have news from a new team. It would not be bad, as a personal experience, to be in a foreign team."

Anton has not lost hope of finding a team of the highest caliber:

"I'm hoping to join a WorldTour team because it is the championship of cycling and, if it is impossible, I will take any team that meets some minimum requirements," he said. "Now I'm waiting to hear from some teams. Some contacts are there and I hope that they have a positived outcome."

About 2015, Anton said: "There has been a bit of everything. I came to the race that I like, the Giro d'Italia, and yes, it has been a season that was a little different. In the end I was unable to get going. It was impossible but I am especially pleased with the victory in the Tour of Asturias, where I won a stage too."

Anton believes the Giro harmed the rest of the calendar.

"That's perhaps the whole point of the season. Maybe it was too much to do the Giro d'Italia  after a year in which I had been riding since January and after Asturias, where I won, and even had some periods of illness. Perhaps I was not bad in Italy, but I didn't feel at 100%. Then I did the Tour of Switzerland. I had done plenty of races and that destroyed the rest of the season."

The Basque climber has been with the Movistar Team in 2014 and 2015 after nine seasons with Euskaltel-Euskadi. He has four stage wins in the Vuelta a Espana, one in the Giro d'Italia and he has stage wins in the Tour de Suisse and the Tour de Romandie too.
