The Vuelta a Espana will return to the province of Burgos in 2017. The news was confirmed by race director Javier Guillen in the company of the Mayor of Burgos.
According to Spanish media, the city of Villadiego should host the start of the stage after the second rest day at the beginning of the final week. The presence of the mayor of Burgos indicates that the finish could be in the city of Burgos.
Several media, including Ciclo21, mentions the possibility of a time trial that would link the two cities which separated by around 45 kilometers. If that's the case, the stage will strongly resemble the time trial in 2015 when the final week started with a similar stage with start and finish in Brugos.Tom Dumoulin won the stage and moved into the leader's jersey which he lost a few days later, on the eve of the arrival in Madrid.
