CCC Sprandi Polkowice has received another wildcard invitation to the UCI World Tour race. Just like last year the team will take part in the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya (23-29.03).

"We raced in Catalonia last year and the organizers were very satisfied with our performance. We were very active, we were involved in most of the breakaways and we finished in the top 10 on three stages. This year we will give our best again and we will do everything we can to make our presence known. The Giro d’Italia starts few weeks after the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya and every race with the best teams in the world brings us closer to the top of cycling," Piotr Wadecki, sporting director said.

"The day before Spanish stage race we will participate in the Milan-Sanremo so we will have to send two strong squads to both of those events. It’s hard to determine which rider will participate in which race. Our decision will be based on the current form of the riders. The organizers of Catalan race insisted that Davide Rebellin shows up, so he is the only rider who is certain to make the roster," he added.

Aside from all 17 UCI World Tour teams, CCC Sprandi Polkowice will face Spanish Caja Rural, French Europcar, Cofidis and Bretagne-Séché Environnement, Belgian Wanty - Groupe Gobert and Team Colombia.

Last year on the ultimate stage Maciej Paterski finished 4th. The day before Marek Rutkiewicz was 5th. Branislau Samoilau was the highest ranked rider “in orange” in 42nd. The race was won by Joaquim Rodriguez ahead of Alberto Contador and Tejay van Garderen.

This year’s edition will kick off in Calella, where the start and the finish of stage 1 will be set. It will end in Barcelona. The race will consist of 7 stages and there will be no time trials.
