The world champion in scratch race from 2013, Irishman Martyn Irvine, will join Madison Genesis along with Mark McNally, as the British Continental squad announced their complete roster for 2015.

Formerly riding for Pro Continental UnitedHealthcare, Irvine is described by his new team as a hugely versatile rider, steadily building his reputation as a world class cyclist on both the track and the road. A world scratch race title in 2013 was the biggest highlight of his professional career and, reportedly, a confirmation of his quality. Madison Genesis expect this quality to be translated to his road appearances, not only in criterium races which he numerously won in the past. The 29-year old Irishman won’t be able to star in the new colours just yet, though, as he broke his collarbone in a six-bike pile-up in the Men’s Omnium scratch race.

Along with Irvine, another rider originating from the track will feature in the Madison Genesis roster for 2015. The former U23 European champion and 2014 Tour of Britain mountain classification winner, Mark McNally, joins the team, moving from An Post-Chain Reaction.

With no less than seven new signings for the upcoming season, the Madison Genesis manager Roger Hammond expects his significantly revamped squad to improve on promising results from last two years.

“The 2014 racing season was a great success for the team and I feel the transfer season was a continuation of that,” he said, according to Cycling Weekly. “I am really pleased the successful core of this year’s team is returning again next year, ensuring we already had a very firm foundation with which to build the team.

“With the variety of the new riders coming to the team, from National Junior champions through to international race winners, I couldn’t have hoped for a better line up to go into battle with next year. It going to be exciting.”
