Jussi Veikkanen (FDJ) underlined his position as the leading Finnish cyclist by taking a seventh victory in the Finnish road race championships. Arriving at the finish with Joonas Henttala (Novo Nordisk), he won the sprint while Samuel Pokala completed the podium.
In 2003 Jussi Veikkanen won his first Finnish road race championships and since then he has completely dominated the event. Today he took a seventh title when he won the race for the second year in a row.
Veikkanen arrived at the finish with the only other professional Finnish rider, Joonas Henttala, and he had no trouble beating his companion in the sprint. 37 seconds later Samuel Pokala arrived on his own to completel the podium.
Veikkanen won't be able to show off his jersey in the Tour de France as he hasn't been selected for the FDJ roster.
