Having missed the break in yesterday's stage, Team NetApp-Endura were intent on making amends in today's stage of the Tour of Britain. However, the German team again missed out and had to settle for 11th with Scott Thwaites.

In today’s stage, Alex Dowsett (Movistar Team) claimed the overall leader’s yellow jersey after a long escape, while Team NetApp-Endura’s captain Leo König dropped to ninth place. Just like yesterday, Matthias Brändle (IAM Cycling) clenched the stage win ahead of his fellow escapees Dowsett and Steward (Madison Genesis). With his 11th place finish, Scott Thwaites was Team NetApp-Endura’s best rider in today’s sixth stage, which covered 205 kilometers from Bath to Hemel Hempstead.

“Today’s race was unusually fast from the very beginning. The field split up early on and it took a while before the three breakaway riders could pull away. But then they were allowed to get too far ahead and the big teams were no longer able to catch up. We had wanted to be in the group, but were unable to make the jump. That is unfortunate, since for the last three days it had always been possible to win from the group. Scott’s legs are really strong right now and today I would have trusted him to get a good result. Unfortunately he still has a handicap with his injuries from the crash. Of course it also didn’t help that Paul is still a bit shaky and Daniel and Sam are feeling under the weather. I’m expecting a really hard and difficult race tomorrow. We’ll have to try to look for our opportunity,” Enrico Poitschke said after the stage.

Tomorrow’s penultimate stage will be the longest of the 2014 Tour of Britain. The 225-km stage will begin in Camberley and end with two category-1 mountain classifications, which come just before reaching the finish line in Brighton.
