Andy Schleck has called a press conference for Thursday, October 9, what immediately ignited rumors in media related to cycling about his anticipated decision to retire from professional sport.
While his older brother Frank started to slowly mark his presence in the professional peloton after returning from suspension and have his contract with Trek Factory Racing extended for two more seasons, a future doesn’t look equally bright for Andy.
The 29-year old Luxembourger unsuccessfully struggled to resemble his former self since his crash at the 2012 Criterium du Daupjine, and another accident in this year’s edition of la Grande Boucle put a premature end to his disastrous 2014 season.
Running out of his current contract with Trek by the end of this year, Schleck doesn’t have any arguments in his hand to negotiate a new deal with the American team, and this a decision to hang up his wheels is expected to be announced.
Schleck will hold the press conference in Luxembourg at 10:30 local time on Thursday 9 October
