Tim Wellens (LTS) took the final win in the 11th Eneco Tour after the last stage (188km) saw no dangerous attacks between the favorites on the Flemish ‘hellingen’ - a double ascent towards the Kapelmuur was on the day’s programme. Manuel Quinziato (BMC) took the day’s honours after surviving from a 14-man break formed in the beginning of the stage.
Movistar Team, absent from that move, tried to counter from behind with Sütterlin and José Joaquín Rojas, the latter ending up as top Movistar Team finisher in 21st spot. The form progression by both the Spaniard, Andrey Amador and Juanjo Lobato, all of them searching for success in late-season goals, was the most remarkable note for a squad which came close to a stage win on Thursday in the Hoogerheide ITT with Adriano Malori (3rd place).
"It was a tight race, very hard, and I'm happy because I have not suffered any setbacks so I have to be pleased to have come out of it all right," Amador said. Furthermore, the Costa Rican said that the feeling was good and he expects to be in the best condition for his next race which he hopes will be the Vuelta.
