"First mountains today, first time we test the GC riders. The day after tomorrow will be the most important stage."
Those were the words of Astana's Valerio Agnoli after stage six at the Tour of Hainan. Agnoli, Andrey Zeits and Bakhtiyar Kozhatayev attacked to break away on the second climb of the day, but teams in the main group would not allow such a dangerous escape and quickly neutralized the attempt.
Riders climbed in the early half of the stage but spent the second part of the stage on absolutely flat roads to the finish, with the stage being won by Jakub Mareczko of Italy. Ruslan Tleuybayev finished in the Top-10 sprinters in front of thousands of spectators and tourists in the main beach and hotel city of Sanya.
