The Royal Moroccan Federation Cycling has announced the postponement of the African Cycling Championships that were to be held in November. The reason is the risk of Ebola.
As recommended by the World Health Organization, the Federation decided not to take any risks as no less than 35 African countries were set to participate in the competition. The President of the Real Federación Ciclista, Mohammed Belhami, insisted that it is no cancellation, just a postponement. The new date will be decided in the coming days. In this regard, cycling has racted faster than football after Morocco unsuccessfully requested a postponement of the next African Nations Cup. The authorities of African football are looking into the matter and a decision could be made on November 2 for a competition that is scheduled to take place from January 17 to February 8, 2015.
