Janier Acevedo looks forward to next season with the continental Jamis team after two yearsfull of mishaps and illnesses with Cannondale-Garmin

Acevedo regrets his bad luck during his time with Jonathan Vaughters. "They were two very difficult years, full of mishaps, illnesses and injuries that would not let me continue the good performance of the previous year and that did not allow me to stay in that category. I understand that if a rider has no merit and finds it difficult to achieve good results in the races, the teams are very demanding at this level. You must be one hundred percent good to continue year after year," he told the Colombian Cycling Federation.

"I think all riders want to ride in that category. I left with a bitter taste of not being able to continue, but I had to prove myself to continue," he added.

Nevertheless, he also sees the positive side of competing at the highest level. "In two years I really learned about cycling in all areas, how hard it is and how it is truly done. They were unforgettable experiences that a rider will never get if you are not in that category. I think I learned many things I did not know and it will serve me well for what's coming."

In 2016, the Colombian returns to the Jamis team of Argentine Sebastian Alexandre in which he shone in 2013. "First I hope to get back after two very bad years, and then give the team as many wins as possible," he said.

"To be back has great significance. It is a team that I owe all my great results in 2013. It was thanks to them that I was treated very well and felt very comfortable at all levels. I return with high expectations of great things and personally, I hope to get back after two bad years," he said.

Acevedo has a double advantage in his return to the US calendar. "I know American cycling very well, the races and especially most of the tours. With this and what I learned in Europe, it will help me a lot to improve and to achieve the goals I have made," he concluded.
