One week ago Timothy Dupont (Roubaix) showed his great potential by taking second in the Omloop van Het Houtland. Today he confirmed his talent by taking third in the first stage of the Tour de l'Eurometropole.
"Earlier today I was not feeling very well because I had stomach ache," he told Directvelo. "In principle, I had to prepare the sprint for Maxime Vantomme. In the end we were riding fast. I managed to take shelter from the wind and I managed to place myself properly. I did not necessarily sprint. My computer showed 77km/h when passing the line.
"I am in awe of the train of the Lotto-Soudal. They rode for 5-6km. Nobody could endanger their organization. There was no way to beat them. I envy Jens Debusschere."
